Contraindications & When Treatment May Need to Be Postponed

For your safety and comfort, please inform me of any medical conditions, medications, allergies, recent procedures or changes in your health before your treatment.

Holistic facial reflexology may need to be postponed or adapted if you have:

• A fever, acute illness or active infection.

• Contagious skin conditions affecting the face, head or neck.

• Open wounds, broken skin, weeping skin, burns or sunburn in areas where treatment would take place.

• Active cold sores, herpes or other contagious lesions around the mouth or face.

• Severe acne, active inflammatory skin conditions or significant facial inflammation where touch may aggravate the condition.

• Recent facial surgery, cosmetic surgery or other facial procedures – please allow appropriate healing time and seek advice from your practitioner/medical professional where necessary.

• Recent injectable or cosmetic treatments, such as dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, threads or other procedures – treatment may need to be postponed according to the advice of the practitioner who performed the procedure.

• Recent dental surgery or significant dental procedures, particularly where there is facial or jaw swelling or tenderness.

• Undiagnosed lumps, swelling or unusual changes to the face, neck or lymph nodes.

• Known or suspected blood clot/DVT or other acute circulatory condition – medical advice should be sought before treatment.

• Severe or unexplained facial pain, numbness or neurological symptoms – these should be medically assessed before treatment.

• Recent facial trauma, fracture or significant injury.

• Conditions causing severe skin sensitivity or where touch is likely to cause discomfort or injury.

• Pregnancy or high-risk pregnancy – please disclose this before treatment so that the treatment can be appropriately adapted and, where necessary, medical advice sought.

• Cancer or other serious medical conditions – treatment should be complementary to, rather than a replacement for, medical care.
